London based South African, Esa Williams is part of a unique breed of talent challenging the electronic music scene. By drawing influences from his roots whilst firmly looking towards the future, he embodies a sound without limitations.

Taking a trip through his back catalogue, one can find a distinct yet expansive musical identity of vibrant, rhythmic and wholeheartedly positive productions. His music is represented by acclaimed imprints such as Burek, Omena and Hello Sailor. In 2017 Esa released his Aweh EP on Dekmantel spreading a message of many friendships advocating ‘awareness’ of the collective musical world. Esa carved out a niche curating electronic music-focused educational programmes in Cuba, East Africa and South Africa. Using his knowledge and skills he inspired a new generation of enthusiastic DJ’s and producers around the world. Esa takes pride in championing music from artists who may have fallen through the cracks. He can be regarded as a creative polymath being able to connect the dots on many cultural, historical, musical and technical levels.

Now he’s found new ways to channel these experiences and stories through his music, performances and collaborative projects. Esa played a leading role in firing up the legacy of Ata Kak by bringing together the already legendary Ata Kak band with Esa being their captain, conductor and producer on and off stage.

Through his residency at Worldwide FM, Esa shares amazing tales that are inspired by his musical journeys. Expect a world connected with musical, cultural and historical traditions to be enjoyed by simply listening and visualising the stories that are Esa.
