The first wave of acts announced for Atlas Electronic 2017
Ben UFO, Gerd Janson, Fatima Yamaha, Makam, Vakula, Hieroglyphic Being, Shanti Celeste, Ata Kak and more will perform at Atlas Electronic 2017 in Marrakech, Morocco this summer.
The first wave of acts announced for Atlas Electronic 2017 include: ’90s funky hip-house enigma Ata Kak from Ghana, whose music has been recently exhumed and reissued via Brian Shimkovitz’s Awesome Tapes From Africa label. Resident Advisor top 10 live act Fatima Yamaha will be giving one of his show-stopping performances. In a special collaboration with Moroccan musicians, Hieroglyphic Being will be playing live on the opening night. Meanwhile, eclectic DJs Ben UFO, Vakula, Gerd Janson and UK’s rising star Shanti Celeste will join a sterling Dutch contingent from the booth. There’s Dekmantel’s Makam, Red Bull Music Academy alumni Jameszoo, LA-based Palmbomen II, Red Light Radio host Afrobot and Steven Pieters, Khalil and Taylan Alan from Rotterdam’s Triphouse and Clone Records associate RAFF, plus many more.
In the spirit of connectivity and globe-trotting sounds, alchemic DJ and producer C. Love from the US will be joining us alongside returning synth and ethno-music duo Nu Guinea and Habibi Funk, Berlin-based purveyor of all things funky and ‘70s from the Arabic world. Moroccan talent will feature heavily on the bill too. We’re welcoming Casablanca DJs Dex Le Maffo, Kosh, M.A.O.U. and Driss Bennis into the fold. Local wedding band Groupe Bana is joining in on the fun as well. Their Gnawa troupe leader — remembered as one of last year’s highlights — is ready to bring the party once more.
